Food Bank

The Store Cupboard is a local independent Food Bank that has been running since 2015 and is available to Gosport Residents Only. This was created to help anybody who needs short-term food support, this can include those who are homeless, unemployed or employed.

A Food Bank should not be used for long-term reliance. Our Food Bank runs to provide Emergency Food Parcels, to support individuals and families in financial crisis and to bridge that gap. It is intended as a short-term, emergency solution and temporary lifeline.

Referral Form

How do I join?

The Store Cupboard is is funded by ourselves, but relies on your Donations. To Join you must live in Gosport and a referral is required. An agency like the Citizens Advice Bureau, Health care professional or community organization can help you with this. Our online referral Form is available on this page with more details.

What happens once I have been referred?

When we have received your referral and checked it we will then enter you onto our database - Once this has been processed we will contact you to let you know when you can start receiving food parcels. You can collect 1 parcel of food 3 times over 12 months

Jacobs Well - Emergency Food Referral Form

Details:

1. This Referral Form can only be submitted by one of the following:

Advice & Welfare Services: Citizens Advice Bureau (See below for Gosport CAB details)
Health Professionals: General practitioners (GPs), Health Visitors, and Medical Centre Staff.
Social & Community Care: Social workers, family support workers, and probation officers.
Education: School Teachers, Headteachers, Nursery Managers, and Children's Centre Staff.
Housing & Local Authorities: Local Council Housing Officers, Housing Association Staff, or Emergency Welfare Teams.
Faith Groups: Ordained Church Leaders, Members of the Clergy, Catholic Priests, Pastors.
Emergency Services: Paramedic, Police Officer, Police Community Support Officer, Fire Fighter.

2. The First two fields are for the Referrer, the others are for the person being referred.

3. When filling out the form, the referrer will need to enter a reason for a referral - please choose an option from this list.

4. Once the form has been filled out and submitted, we will usually contact the person being referred within 48 hours, but sometimes can take a little longer.

Food Bank Policy

Referral Times:

Jacobs Well offers referrals Wednesday and Thursdays 10 to 12, apart from weekends and holidays.

Refusal of Food:

We are a Charity Food Bank and would never refuse a person Food without good reason, however we do reserve the right to refuse service to any customer for:

Swearing
Aggressive behaviour,
Sexual harassment
Intoxication or Drug Abuse
Threats to the safety of staff or customers,
Fraud.
Non-Compliance with Opening Times.
Non-Compliance with the amount of times you collect Food.

This list is not exhaustive.

If you are refused service, for any of these reasons, this inevitably would lead to being Barred/De-Registered from our Food Bank Customer List.

Registration Refusal / Barred / De-Registered

Jacobs Well reserve the right to Refuse Registration, Barr or De-Register any customer at any time, for any amount of time.
